Dads & Me Cub Scout Weekend

Daddy & T.H. & C.H. took a trip to the Cub Scout Camp in Damascus for an overnight camping trip and to have some fun!
The boys were able to spend time on the archery range...
...and showed off their skills!
What amazing form!
They look like naturals!
We also had fun on the BB Range!
There were arts & crafts too...
...and the boys designed their own frog puppets.
Fished quite a bit! There was a really nice lake right next to our camp site and we spent a lot of time trying to catch bass & perch.
C.H. showing off his first catch of the weekend!
T.H. showing off his first catch too!
We did lots of fishing...
...from different spots on the lake.
We would catch grasshoppers by hand...or foot...for bait...
Take turns with the "preferred" spin cast rod & reel...
...and celebrate our catch!
Then back at it for more!
Leave it to the boys to find lizards and other "wild animals" no matter where we go. Here, C.H. has nabbed a lizard that was crawling around our camp site. At the Tradin' Post, the boys wanted walking sticks...which were a big hit with the Scouts...so Daddy obliged and purchased the two biggest for his favorite Cub Scouts!
"Wild Animal" #2...a frog!
The tent was nice and big...with cots and much needed insulated sleeping bags. It got really cold at night!
We had lots of space and T.H. was ready and willing to stand guard with his walking stick to protect us from all the real "wild animals" that might be around.
In the morning, it was very chilly and steam was rising off the lake. It made for a very pretty picture of the mountain in the back ground.
This was our view in the morning. Beautiful!!
...beautiful and COLD!!
C.H. points to water puddles that were actually iced over!
"Ugh...these early morning wake ups...I need...
....a little hot cocoa to perk me up!"
C.H. feeling the effects of an early & cold morning too.
Looking a little like Frankenstein clomping toward us
"Cocoa...me need hot cocoa!"
Satisfaction guaranteed!
What a trip! Starting the last day off with a nice hearty breakfast in the mess hall. We had a great time and are looking forward to next year!
